Be Brave

“Take chances, make mistakes. That’s how you grow. Pain nourishes your courage. You have to fail in order to practice being brave.”

Mary Tyler Moore

Often in life, we praise bravery as a huge amount of strength without fear. Yet this is not the truth about what bravery is. It is not in NOT feeling fear that we are brave, but in the actions we do despite the fear we have. And in love, being brave and fearful go hand in hand. It takes a lot of courage to keep looking when we have been hurt or to stay vulnerable with our partner when we don’t want to, or to speak when it may be hard, but it’s the right thing to do. Being brave means doing what is right, even if it’s hard to do. So we need to keep in mind that being brave means seeing the fear we have, but working on ourselves to fear less and do better. It’s to love even when it’s hard and to deal with what fears we have. And in the end, we need to be brave, and love is one of those two things we all need in life.
